Best Gaming Keyboard Under $100 Snapshot
1) Logitech G610 Orion
- Amazon’s choice
- Cool lighting effects
- Good weight and rubber pads
- Braided strong long length cable
- Loud clicking sound
Logitech is obviously a well known technology brand and well known for their monitors which is a good start but what is even better is that they have also in recent years started to try and make a name for themselves in the gaming space and have done just that with this G610 Orion keyboard. Because of the tactile bump in this keyboard you get minimum loud clicking sound and a great spring with every press your fingers make. The backlighting on this keyboard is a single beautiful white color that you can customizable to a certain extent by increasing and decreasing the brightness to suit whatever setting you are gaming in or whatever game you are playing and of course there are customizable keys so you can reach them better with your fingers.
2) Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
- Good for smaller desks and hands
- Two usb ports and headphone jack
- Very durable
- Cable detaches easily
Most gamers will have heard of Razer and we heave written about their products on YourGamingSetup in the past. Their Blackwlidow keyboard is a personal favorite of mine and many others for a number of different reasons that I will go over. The Blackwidow is a really strong keyboard due to it being engineered to withstand 60 million keystrokes. If you want a keyboard that is going to last you many years of intense gaming then this might be the perfect one for you. The Blackwidow has a in depth backlighting feature making it work well in the dark since the lighting can be programmed extensively. If you want to game in the dark and only have the arrow keys lit up for example then you can do that. If you are quite fussy when it comes to selecting your switch type then Razer have you covered with the choice between Cherry MX Blue or Razer’s very own green and orange switches.
3) Rosewill RK9000V2
- No clicking sound
- Nice spring from keys
- High quality materials used
- Cable isn’t durable
I had never heard of the Rosewill brand before but their RK9000V2 keyboard is priced reasonably well and all the reviews are really great so I thought I would give it a shot. I am so glad I did because I love it so much. I really like the way the keys bounce on this and when using it, my fingers don’t get seem to get tired which was a problem I always had when using cheaper keyboards. It has rubber feet underneath for extra support and but doesn’t include backlighting which could be a good thing for some gamers. I really like this mechanical keyboard and think that it could definitely become a firm favorite for gamers due to the high quality materials, low price and great design.
4) Azio MGK-1
- Good value for money
- Some aluminum materials used
- Comfortable palm rest
- Feels a bit cheap
This Azio gaming keyboard is a great value for money buy and you really get a lot in terms of quality. The Mechanical keys are Kailh Brown which is good for people who would rather try something different from Cherry MX. This keyboard has a nice white background lighting that isn’t too overpowering like some other keyboards which can be a problem for some gamers who like to game in the dark but still see their keys at the same time. One of my favorite features on the MGK-1 that surprise me was that it had an aluminum face plate on front face on the keyboard that makes it a really strong durable keyboard that will last through a lot of knocks, bangs and whatever else happens to a gamers keyboard over time.
5) Corsair Strafe
- Good Cherry MX brown keys
- Comfortable keys
- Wrist rest isn’t very comfortable
The corsairs strafe just about made it into my list of great budget gaming keyboards and the corsair strafe keyboard is definitely a top tier keyboard. This gaming keyboard features Cherry MX keys that are actually gold plated and are attached to pressure resistant alloy springs that give you the perfect amount of contact and ultimately if you are a gamer then that you will give that extra milli second advantage which is sometimes all it takes to beat another pro gamer when the margins are so fine. This has a red backlighting design and come with 6 presets which is a good a way for someone to set up their color scheme if you’re not sure on what to choose but if you are then you can of course program your own as well. My favorite feature with this keyboard is the textured grips that that make it extremely comfortable to use and make sure that your fingers never slip and hit the wrong key when your smashing the keys super fast.
6) Cooler Master CM Storm QuickFire Rapid
- Can remove keycaps to clean
- Extremely durable
- Key click is very loud
This mechanical blue cherry mx switch keyboard from cooler master is a very popular choice for gamers on a budget worldwide and because of that it is actually out of stock quite often so if you like the look of this keyboard you better be quick. When pressing the keys on this cooler master you will feel like there is a bit of pressure and resistants which can feel good for most gamers but of course others don’t like that feeling. Unlike the most of the other keyboards in this list the cooler master cm storm does not have any backlighting built in which again is another personal preference choice for gamers. If you do not plan to game in the dark and just want a well built strong keyboard for gaming then this is a very good choice and will suit your gaming needs.
7) HyperX Alloy
- Great for FPS games
- Uses real steel materials
- Easy to configure lighting setup
- Longevity questionable
The HyperX alloy is a small MX mechanical keyboard also available in MX blue, brown and red. This keyboard is really great for games like PubG, Fortnight, Counterstrike and other First person shooter games due to the textured keys that give you the all important grip when hitting different keys at speed. It has anti ghosting mode for when you are gaming and has other cool features like a usb charging port that can charge your devices direct from the keyboard. One of my favorite features with the HyperX is the ability to light up certain keys like only the WASD keys for example which looks really cool lit up in red in the dark. One thing to note with Hyper X is that the keys are quite loud and make a click sound which I find annoying but some other gamer really prefer that so it’s up to you. If it wasn’t for the loud clicking I might have placed the hyperX higher in my guide.
8) DBPOWER 3 Color
- Really cheap
- Cool design and lights
- Perfect for gaming
- Quite complicated to setup and use
This DBPOWER gaming keyboard I think will pleasantly surprise a lot of gamers looking to get a keyboard on a budget. Whenever this thing is on sale it is one of the cheapest options out there and at the same time one of the best options in terms of quality. One of the features I like on this keyboard is that they have made an effort to re-enforce the space bar key which is something that wore out after a while on my old keyboard due to my hardcore gaming. It is also splash proof which gives it protection from my mountain dew spillage and you can remove the keycaps to clean off things when the keyboard gets covered in cheesy Doritos. I would say that this keyboard is extremely durable and that is true for even the USB cable that is braded.
9) Havit Rainbow
- Good value for money
- Nice click sound
- Don’t get the mouse/keyboard combo (mouse sucks)
I am actually started to become a fan and respect the Havit brand ever since I first go the chance to use one of their gaming mice. I would say that in my opinion this company is really good at first making their hardware look awesome with great lighting features and more importantly are really great at making their products work fantastically well. You can get this keyboard in either fierce black or a friendlier white and use 3 different light settings which are medium, high, breath mode and rainbow mode which is my favorite and you can turn of the backlight as well if you find that annoys you or something else. The resolution is 2400 DPI but is adjustable and it also has Gold-plated connectors which do a great job at boosting up the response time and that is one of my other favorite things about Havit as well, the fact that they use this in nearly all their tech. The one thing I would say is that if you are thinking about getting this in the combo package that comes with the mouse. Just don’t. Buy them separately as the gaming mouse that comes in this particular combo is really low in quality and sucks in my opinion unlike their others which are really great.
